Hereford is the last stage of the new Gelato Festival World Masters worldwide tour in the UK of 2024. On 14th November, Carpigiani UK will host at their HQ in Hereford the Carpigiani Challenge, a competition that brings together top gelato chefs from all over England, who will present their signature flavours, vying for a spot in the European finals. This new edition of the Gelato Festival World Masters 2022-2025 is organized by Gelato Festival in collaboration with Carpigiani Gelato University, the globally renowned school for successful gelato entrepreneurs, and Sigep – Italian Exhibition Group, the world’s leading B2B show dedicated to artisan gelato, pastry, bakery, and coffee.
On competition day, each chef will prepare their gelato in a specially equipped laboratory; then, a panel of industry experts, local chefs and food journalists will taste and evaluate each flavour. The best flavour will advance to the European Finals of Gelato Festival World Masters, set for 2025.
With the 2022-25 edition, Gelato Festival World Masters reaches its fifteenth year, debuting in Florence in 2010 as “Gelato Festival”, a local competition inspired by the first recorded gelato recipe crafted by architect Bernardo Buontalenti in 1559. Since then, the event has expanded exponentially, first across Italy, then throughout Europe and in 2017 reaching the United States, ultimately becoming a global championship knows as Gelato Festival World Masters. In the 2017-2021 edition alone, over 3,500 gelato artisans from around the world joined to competition, cementing its place as the leading international gelato event.
