Berlin, 03. June 2018 - Blue skies, sun and summery temperatures set the scene for the two days of the Gelato Festival on Alexanderplatz in Berlin. The Germany stage of the Gelato Festival was an occasion for the numerous visitors to take a trip to enjoy a long-awaited gelato on a sunny day. The visitors stood in long queues to taste their favorite flavors and cast their votes. The audience's enthusiasm for the gelatos in competition was enormous.

The winner, according to the public and the jury, was:

- Claudia Trotta, with the flavor "Edelweiss" - a fine creation of organic goat yoghurt and Greek yoghurt, decorated with dark chocolate - by Eiscafe Venezia in Wernigerode in the district of Harz (Saxony-Anhalt).

The winner of the Gelato Festival of this year's edition will be the second member of the German team of gelato pastry chefs, who will compete in 2021 at the International Final Gelato Festival World Master 2021 in Italy, in which each country will have three competing champions. The first member is the winner of the Gelato Festival 2018 - Giuseppe Cimino from Eiscafé Eis Rimini from Rastatt-Plittersdorf in Baden-Württemberg -, the third will be the winner of the Gelato Festival 2020.

- The second place went to the Gelatiere Federico Sacchet by Eiscafè Gusto Mosena in Hameln (Lower Saxony), with the flavor "Alm Duft", an extravagant creation of ricotta gelato, refined with berries and herbs from the mountains.
- Third place went to Anne Werner, from the EisLabor in Bonn, who was the youngest competitor at the age of 24. Her flavor "Hot Queen" was a refreshing and exotic creation of mango, coconut and chilli.

The jury's award went to Federico Sacchet from Eiscafe Gusto Mosena in Hameln (Lower Saxony), with the highest score, with the "Alpine fragrance" flavor.

The most popular gelato in the audience, which received the most votes from the visitors, is "Summer Passion", a sorbet of oranges, pineapple and passion fruit, garnished with a pomegranate jam by Massimo Perilli from the Eiscafè Perilli from Großenlüder in Hesse. This flavor got the award of the audience.
