SIGEP 2025 - Here are the three German gelato artisans who will advance to the Final of the Gelato Festival World Masters

The gelato artisans will advance directly to the final of the Gelato Festival World Masters, which will take place in 2026

Gelato Festival World Masters, the world's leading competition for individual gelato makers with Carpigiani and Sigep - Italian Exhibition Group as partners, made a stop at Sigep in Rimini, the 46th international trade fair for artisan gelato, pastry, bakery and coffee, with the German final, in which 15 gelato makers from Germany took part. The participants were evaluated according to 4 different criteria: flavor, structure, creativity and aesthetic presentation.

Here are the top 3 by points who qualified for the World Final:

1.    Thomas Micolino from Eiscafé by Rino in Rottenburg am Neckar with the flavor "Kamelatte"

Description: A camel milk-based gelato with a slightly salty aftertaste. Almonds and pistachios marinated in sugar are added into this base and refined with orange and lemon zest, cinnamon and vanilla. Covered with a date paste.  

2.    Rino Bernardi from Gran Café by Rino in Ochsenhausen with the flavor "Red King"

Description: Pomegranate sorbet combined with cream and honey gelato.

3.    Enrico Piccin from Artigiani in Berlin with the "Mediterraneo" flavor

Description: A milk-based gelato with olive oil and an infusion of rosemary and lemon peel.

The jury was made up of:
•    Cinzia Otri, gelato master;
•    Andrea Soban, master of arts and crafts;
•    Gerhard Schenk, President of the German Confectioners' Association.

The three winners of the German final will take part in the World Final, which will be held in 2026.

The 2022-2025 edition marks the 16th year of the Gelato Festival World Masters. It began in Florence in 2010, from where it expanded first in Italy and then in Europe, before being held in the United States in 2017. Since the 2018-2021 edition, the Gelato Festival World Masters has taken place worldwide - the last edition counted over 3,500 participating gelato artisans from all over the world.
