The three gelato artisans will compete in the Spanish Final of the Gelato Festival World Masters

Gelato Festival World Masters, the world's leading competition for individual gelato makers with partners Carpigiani and Sigep - Italian Exhibition Group, made a stop at Sigep in Rimini, the 46th International Artisan Gelato, Pastry, Bakery and Coffee Exhibition, with the Iberian Challenge, in which 12 gelato makers from Spain and Portugal participated. The objective was to identify the best gelato based on criteria such as flavor, structure, creativity and aesthetic presentation.

Here are the top 3 by score that qualified for the Spanish final:  

1.    Carlo Guerriero of La Cremeria Gelato Italiano in Cadiz with the "Sherrymisu³" flavor.
Description: Tiramisu revisited with sherry wine.

2.    Daniel Villa Berenguer from Heladeria La Valenciana in Marbella with the flavor "Perdición del Edén".
Description: Baked apple gelato, served with walnuts and a cinnamon and ginger sauce.

3.    Bernardo Vicente Schenoni Siberta of Deleite Heladería Artesanal in Madrid with the flavor "Caprichio Persa".
Description: Saffron and cardamom infused gelato with rose water.

The jury was composed of:
•    Eugenio Morrone, Master Gelato Maker inscribed in the Gelato Festival World Ranking Hall of Fame;
•    Marco Venturino, Master Gelato Maker inscribed in the Gelato Festival World Ranking Hall of Fame;
•    Sergio Colalucci, President of the Gelato World Cup.

The three winners of the Iberian Challenge will participate in the Spanish final, which will take place in 2025.

2025 marks the 16th year of the Gelato Festival World Masters. It began in 2010 in Florence, from where it expanded first in Italy and then in Europe, before being held in the United States in 2017. From the 2018-2021 edition, the Gelato Festival World Masters will be held all over the world: the last edition had more than 3500 participating gelato artisans from all over the world.

  • Fernando Alberdi Juaristi of Dona Doni in Getaria with the flavor "Suprema alla nocciola con salsa al pistacchio e pistacchio caramellato";
  • Angel Montero Gutierrez from Heladeria Las Melonas in Seville with the flavor “Turrón con Luis Felipe”;
  • José Pablo Ambrosio Sánchez of the Ambrosio Artesano in Córdoba with the flavor "Ruta por Córdoba";
  • Nicole Losurdo of Gelateria Sorbetto in Portimao with the flavor "Antica Passione";
  • Nelson Da Costa from São Gelados in Olhão with the flavor "Roda de São Tomé";
  • Manuela Carabina of Fragoleto in Lisbona with the flavor "Iberico".
