15 gelato masters competed on July 22 and 23 at FIPAN for a chance to advance to the final stage of the Gelato Festival World Masters, the global championship in search of the best gelato flavor across five continents

Aline Vieira and Guilherme Geraldini Pereira are Brazil’s top gelato artisans who have secured their place in the Brazilian final of the Gelato Festival World Masters, the most prestigious global tournament organized in collaboration with Carpigiani and Sigep – Italian Exhibition Group.

On July 22 and 23, 15 gelato masters faced off at the FIPAN trade show in São Paulo, competing for a spot in the 2026 world final. The participants were selected during local selections held in 2023 and 2024.

The 2 winning flavors and best gelato artisans in Brazil were:

· Aline Vieira from Flor do Ingá in Maringá (PR), with the flavor "Doce Encontro"
Description: Blue cheese gelato with rangpur lime jam.

· Guilherme Geraldini Pereira from Biju Mani in São Francisco (SP), with the flavor “Appia”
Description: Cream gelato with Appia beer made from wheat and honey, topped with lime zest, toasted macadamia, and salted caramel.

These two gelato artisans will advance to the World Final, which will be held in Italy in 2026.

Flavor, structure, creativity, and presentation were the four evaluation criteria — taking into account everything from ingredient selection to the artisanal process and visual impact of the gelato (see full participant list below).

The jury panel included:
- Claude Troisgros – Renowned chef and TV host
- Saiko Izawa – Executive Pastry Chef at Hotel Rosewood São Paulo
- Patrícia Ferraz – Food journalist

In addition, the FIPAN audience present at the Gelato Arena was able to taste all 15 competing flavors and vote for their favorite. The People’s Choice Award went to Gabriela A. M. Zorzal from Blu Gelatos in Domingos Martins (ES), with the flavor "Sabores da Mata" — a sorbet made from giant gabiroba, Atlantic Forest nuts, red berries, and uruçu bee honey.

The Brazilian Final was organized by Carpigiani do Brasil and distributor 3L Locações (part of the Metalfrio group), in collaboration with Carpigiani Gelato University — the world’s most renowned school for successful gelato entrepreneurs — and Sigep – Italian Exhibition Group, the leading global B2B trade show dedicated to artisanal gelato, pastry, baking, and coffee.

The event was made possible thanks to Specialità (Gold Sponsor) and Super Mix (Silver Sponsor).

The Gelato Festival was launched in Florence in 2010, inspired by the first-ever gelato recipe created by the versatile architect Bernardo Buontalenti in 1559. Since then, the event has expanded — first across Italy, then throughout Europe and, starting in 2017, in the United States — with a total of 80 festivals held before evolving into the Gelato Festival World Masters global championship. The 2021 edition concluded in December 2021 with Adam Fazekas from Budapest as the winner, after a record-breaking 3,500 gelato artisans were judged by international juries.
